E-Day/Home Based Learning Day
Dear Students, Staff, Parents and Guardians,
The school cancellation make-up day for January 15th will take place on Monday, February 17, 2020 as an E-learning/Home Base Learning Day. Through our E-learning/Home Based pilot last year, we learned that students and parents found that the E-Day/Home Based Learning model was a good way to make-up cancelled days. Each school will work closely with students and families to outline the requirements of the day. Building principals and teachers will communicate with you directly the specifics of day. Using the E-learning/Home Based Learning format will allow families to keep to schedules and manage the three day weekend. The E-learning/Home Based learning plan also allows students to experience learning outside the classroom in a manner that is similar to what colleges and employers use.
Students with IEPs will work with their special education to modify materials prior to the E-Learning/ Home Based Learning day. Special education teachers will also be available during the E-Learning/Home Based learning day to provide support. Every effort will be made to make up IEP minutes prior to or just after the E-Learning/Home Based learning day.
In general, students will be asked to complete a minimum of five hours worth of school work starting on Thursday or Friday of the previous weekend. Students can access their work via Canvas in grades 5-12. Students in grades kindergarten through fourth grade will have assignments given directly to them. Teachers will be available from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM on-line to support students on Monday, February 17th.
Thank you for your support,
Darryl Hogue
